The Altar and Rosary Society

Athletic Association Coaches and Commissioners
The Athletic Association provides an organizational path for the children of the parish to participate in Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) and other area sponsored sports programs. The non-profit group provides a structured format with emphasis on participation and Christian fellowship and is responsible for managing and directing all aspects of the St. Hilary sports programs. If your son or daughter is participating in a St. Hilary sponsored sport, please consider sharing your special skills, abilities, and time with the Athletic Association. Youth sports sponsored include baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cross country, football, flag football, munchkin basketball, munchkin soccer, soccer, softball, track and field, and volleyball.

Babysitting Co-op 9:00 Mass
The Babysitting Co-op was established to enable parents to participate fully in the liturgies at the 9:00 am Mass by providing care for young children. Care is available for walking toddlers through Sunday P.S.R. age. Parent participants take turns rotating assigned Sundays to watch the children of all members. We utilize Meeting Room 1 in the Spiritual Center. We are always looking for new members to join our co-op!
Time commitment: Parents are scheduled once per quarter.

Coffee & Donuts
Volunteers with the gift of hospitality are needed to serve this ministry. Coffee and donuts are generally offered on the second Sunday of the month following the 7:30, 9:00, and 11:00 am Masses. This informal social gathering time helps build community spirit.
Time commitment: One team is needed per Mass to setup, serve, and clean up.

Funeral Luncheons Committee
Lend a gentle touch to others in their time of grief by assisting with this ministry. The St. Hilary Funeral Luncheon Committee offers a brunch or luncheon in the Gathering Area to any family who wishes to host refreshments for their funeral guests. Volunteers are needed to bake, set-up, serve and wash dishes.

Garden Ministry
“Ora et labora” – prayer and work – is the motto of this ministry. Participants grow closer to God as they work to beautify and maintain the parish grounds with plants and flowers throughout the spring, summer and fall. Men and women of all ages and walks of life add beauty through this important ministry which, in turn, brings a blessing to all those who see the fruits of their labor.
Time commitment: Help one time in the spring or fall clean-up or maintain a garden.

Girl Scouts, Brownies and Daisies
All girls are invited to join Daisies, Brownies and Girl Scouts. Currently, more than 200 girls participate. The Girl Scout program works to improve the girls’ self-esteem and their relationships with others. It emphasizes service to our church and community.
Time commitment: There are many opportunities for adults to participate in Daisies, Brownies and Girl Scouts.

This group of health care professionals, including doctors, pharmacists, physical therapists, and interested parishioners, provides advice and supports the activities of the Parish Nurses. The committee plans activities and events that promote mental, physical and spiritual health.

Knights of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus Council at St. Hilary is part of a world-wide men’s fraternal organization guided by their belief in God and the Catholic Church, and by their belief in each other. It is through five key areas of service—faith, community, family, youth and fellowship—that the Knights of Columbus make a difference. They are defined by their actions as followers of God and as leaders in the community while participating in charitable activities involved in service. They are dedicated to helping wherever needed within our church and community.
Time commitment: Monthly meetings the first Tuesday of the month; 7:00 - 9:00pm.

Men's Golf League
The St. Hilary Men’s Golf League is a 9-hole golf league played at Valley View Golf Club. The league golfs on Monday evenings and the first tee time is around 4:30pm. The 2010 season will begin in April and runs for 18 weeks through mid September. The season also includes an 18-hole outing at an area course to be determined. The league typically has 20 to 24 members organized into 2-man teams. New members are both welcome and needed.

Parish Nurses
Registered nurses are invited to join this ministry that provides education, comfort and advice to parishioners on health matters in a spiritual context. Specific services include personal health counseling, health education, referral sources within the larger community, interpretation of the close relationship between faith and health, and acting as health advocates. Topics of education have included such things as end of life care, healthy eating, CPR, and more. Annual flu shots are also arranged as are bimonthly blood pressure checks after Masses.
Time commitment: Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm.

Prayer Shawl Ministry
Knit or crochet a prayer shawl for women or a lap robe for men in need of hope and healing. The shawl maker begins with prayers and blessings for the recipient. The intentions are continued throughout the creation. Upon completion, a final blessing by the priests is offered before the shawl is sent on its way. We enjoy each other’s company while we knit or crochet. You do not need to know how to knit or crotchet. We would be happy to teach you.
Time commitment: First and third Tuesday at 10:00 am You can knit or crochet from home if the meeting time is not convenient.

S.T.A.R.
Support this parish-wide fundraising program without spending one additional dollar! The S.T.A.R. program is a fundraising partnership with local and national businesses who give our parish community money every time we shop at their stores. The S.T.A.R. Program purchases gift cards in bulk at a discounted price. Gift cards are then sold at face value at mass times, at the parish office from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and in the school office. Cards are available for grocery stores, gas stations, retail stores, restaurants, and more, so participation is easy.
Time commitment: Volunteers are needed to sell S.T.A.R. cards after Mass and during the week day.

Surviving Spouses Social Group
The focus of this group is on the current blessings of its members and on moving forward in a positive light. Reaching out to others who have lost a spouse though death, members enjoy an afternoon or evening of fun and fellowship while providing community and support for each other.
