Lyn Shott's Bio
Lyn Schott
Lyn Schott, stewardship minister at St. Hilary Parish in Fairlawn, Ohio was brought to the Catholic faith by her
daughter Marybeth. At the age of 13, Marybeth, with guidance from the Holy Spirit, suggested that the family join a
church and suggested her grandmother’s church St. Hilary. Lyn and Marybeth attended R.C.I.A. classes together and were
baptized, confirmed and initiated into the Catholic Faith at the Easter Vigil 1999.
After practicing law for 20 years, Lyn knew that she had finally found what had been missing in her life. Lyn began
by volunteering with Parish Council, serving as President for two years and with Seeds of Change Tutoring, a tutoring
ministry helping students at an Akron inner city elementary school, serving as coordinator for the last six years. In
the fall of 2005 she suggested to her Pastor that the parish needed to improve it’s stewardship program. She along with
staff member, Sr. Marlene LoGrasso, lead a focus group to study stewardship.
Following the model of Monsignor McCreed from St. Francis of Assisi, the group began it’s first stewardship campaign
in January of 2006. In June of 2006 St. Hilary hired Lyn as Stewardship Minister and coordinator of social justice education.
St. Hilary’s stewardship program includes a yearly 3 week stewardship focus, children’s stewardship and a monthly newsletter.
Lyn also serves on the Diocese of Cleveland Stewardship Committee.
Lyn is married to Bob. Their daughter Marybeth is now married to Solomon Gardner and they have two boys.
